In November 2018, I had the opportunity to exhibit my photographic work at the Nippon Foundation in Tokyo. During my stay, I took some time to wander through the city, camera in hand, discovering a place unlike anywhere I had been before.

Tokyo is a city of fascinating contrasts, where tradition and modernity coexist in the most unexpected ways. One moment, you find yourself surrounded by towering skyscrapers, dazzling neon lights and the constant movement of a metropolis that seems to be living in the future. The next, you turn a corner and step into a quiet temple, a narrow residential street or a peaceful garden where time seems to stand still.

What struck me most was how naturally these different worlds exist side by side. Despite its immense size and relentless energy, Tokyo has an extraordinary ability to create pockets of calm amid the urban chaos.

As a photographer, I found myself drawn to these contrasts: the architecture, the light, the small details of everyday life and the unexpected scenes unfolding in the streets. Tokyo feels like a city where the past, present and future are constantly interacting, offering a new perspective with every turn.

These photographs are a glimpse of the city as I experienced it: vibrant, surprising, sometimes overwhelming, yet full of quiet beauty.
